Eeek, so first post on WordPress. Exciting!
So, a bit about me. My name’s Amanda and I’m right on the brink of turning 27. Three years from 30… when the hell did that happen? It seems like yesterday I was starting college and doing homework. Now I’m working in an office and planning my wedding and eating healthy and going to the gym.
I write, a lot. I’m not sure what genre I want to write in, or if I want to be a genre writer, so I’ve been trying a little bit of everything. The next piece I’m going to do is a romance bit that I’ve been wanting to write for a while. I’ve had the barebones plot sitting on my hard drive since last year and I want to see where it goes. Who knows, maybe it’ll be my stroke of brilliance. I’m bound to have at least one.
So I started the paleo diet last week. No processed foods, no refined sugar, no dairy, no legumes, no grains. No alcohol, which isn’t a big deal because I don’t drink all that much. Lots of veggies and fruit, some nuts, some meat. Scary prospect for someone who loves her Doritos and Dr. Pepper, salted caramel ice cream and pasta. I couldn’t even eat some of my favorite vegetables – snap peas – or one of my favorite snacks – apple and peanut butter – because they’re both legumes. It hasn’t been too hard, though, barring the cake I had on Friday (baby gender reveal cake – one of the girls at work is having a little boy!) and the almost irresistible temptation to just let my fiance order pizza for dinner last night. Weighed myself this morning, not expecting much. Lo and behold, the scale said I was 4.2 pounds lighter!
Holy crap, that’s huge. Hoping the weight loss continues – I want to be able to wear whatever wedding dress I want, and hopefully be able to wear a bikini and not look like a beached whale.
I knit, a lot. I have three projects on the go, soon to be four once the yarn I just ordered comes in – baby blanket for the above-mentioned girl at work. The most ambitious project I have is the Here be Dragone shawl – I’ve had to re-start it four times already and I’m not even through the first chart yet. There’s 10, plus the border. Complex lace on small-ish needles, but I’m determined to finish it. My fingers are going to hate me once it’s all said and done.
